I teach and research English Literature of the Romantic period and among my particular interests are Romantic-period drama (drama in the 1820s, the body in gothic drama, the reception of Italian drama in Romantic-period Britain, liberalism and historical tragedy, the dramaturgy of Richard Lalor Sheil, Felicia Hemans and Mary Russell Mitford), British Romantic-period literature and its connections/exchanges with Continental traditions, the novel from Gothic to Jane Austen, Romantic cultural geographies, male and female poets (Lord Byron, Felicia Hemans, Robert Southey, among others), orientalism, maurophilia and hispanophilia, and themes related to luxury and consumption in Romantic-period literature and culture.
